Stack siding off the ground, face-to-face, allowing air to freely circulate around and through the cedar.
Acclimatization times vary with the moisture content of the siding or when in damp or humid weather. Kiln dried cedar needs 7 to 10 days to acclimate on the jobsite. |

Make sure, before installing, that the number of boards between the soffit and the foundation allows for equal overlaps of not less than 1 inch. The wider the siding, the greater the overlap can be, but should never exceed 2 inches. Use larger overlaps for unseasoned sidings to allow for shrinkage and expansion. Take care not to overdrive fasteners when using larger overlaps.
Start with the bottom course. Space nails at a maximum of 24 inches on center and penetrate 1 1/2" into the stud. Butted joints between boards should be staggered and made on studs. Fit snugly to other pieces and to trim and flashing. Ends should be caulked. For windy conditions, blind nail siding by toe-nailing into tongue and add one face nail. For siding that is larger than 6 inches secure with two face nails.
